Since 2011, Made From Scratch have been incorporating play and imagination into urban environments.

Our solid grounding in play theory and human development advocates for access to risk and challenge. As a social enterprise, we actively encourage participation with communities and have found that by handing over the design and construction tools, people learn skills and gain a sense of ownership over their spaces. We are known for our diligent process and build to the most stringent current professional standards of health and safety.

Meet the team

Lizzy Director

Lizzy is an inventive creator with a background in textiles and theatrical build. She co-founded Made From Scratch in 2011 and brings an artistic approach that provides the playful heart of the company. She has both crafted and project managed numerous complex adventure playgrounds, treehouses and sculptural interventions, as well as maintaining a keen focus on business development and ensuring the social impact of all of our projects. Lizzy is also co-founder of Halabja Community Play Project that built Iraq’s first adventure playground, and has spoken at international conferences on play and playground design.

Marilo Associate Director

Marilo is a highly qualified master carpenter and joiner and has been part of the team since 2012. Her knowledge and meticulous attention to detail ensures our builds are durable and finely finished and her signature style can be seen on all Made From Scratch structures. She has an encyclopaedic knowledge of both building and play safety guidelines, and is a qualified RPI inspector.

Llewelyn Associate Director

With an MSc in Environmental Architecture, Llew comes armed with practical and theoretical knowledge of ecological building methods. He has a solid landscaping and environmental construction background which compliment a professional history of leading youth engagement and community projects across Europe. As well as managing builds, Llew leads our community engagement workshops, and 3D digital design.

The whole process was a labour of love and care and the result is a unique structure that provides challenge for all the children.
