Chickens at Northwold!

Chickens at Northwold!

Connie year 6 teacher and her son malakai

Year six teacher and now animal enclosure keeper, Connie and her son Malakai have been welcoming the 4 new bantam hens to Northwold School. The children have named them Spotty, Alberta, Goldie and Nugget. The enclosure lovingly built by our team is inside the nursery and infants playground. All of the  school are learning lots about how to make friends with the new hens. Connie who grew up on a farm says it’s like making friends with a new child at school, “you need to talk to them as if they are a new friend and be nice to them” Connie is helping the hens settle in and hopes that children in different classes will help to take care of the Hens. There’s lots to be done like feeding them and mucking out and collecting the eggs when they start laying. We will post here when they do!
